Executive Summary: Ground Zero collects Approximate and/or Precise Location data solely to provide core functionality. This data is processed locally and used in transient API requests. We never share your personal information with third-party advertisers or data brokers.
3. Detailed Information Handling
Location Intelligence:
The app requires Precise Location (GPS/Network) to calculate distance from epicenters, visualize positions on the seismic map, and trigger relevant "Nearby" alerts. Background location, if enabled, ensures local alerts stay current even when the app is closed.
Technical Analytics:
To maintain stability, Google Play Services may collect diagnostic info (device model, OS version). Ground Zero does not store unique hardware identifiers like IMEI or Serial numbers.
Functional Preferences:
Magnitude thresholds, notification sounds, and unit systems are stored within your device's secure internal storage via native Android frameworks.
4. Third-Party Integrations
Ground Zero relies on trusted infrastructure to deliver seismic intelligence:
United States Geological Survey (USGS): Real-time seismic data is fetched via public APIs. Coordinates may be sent as query parameters, but no personal identifiers are attached.
Google Maps SDK: Used for the mapping interface. Data is handled according to the Google Privacy Policy.
Google Play Services: Utilized for location resolution and notification delivery (FCM).
